With the world population having reached 8 billion people, waste generation is expected to continue its growth in coming years. Solid management (SWM) an essential part of sustainable development that aims minimize adverse environmental impacts. Although problems have been monitored for decades, some regions still struggle achieve their sustainability goals this area. In particular, Hong Kong affected by overloaded landfills, with average daily disposal 14,739 tonnes. The major category municipal solid (MSW), which originates from households and commercial activities. This paper provides overview current SWM strategies advancement technologies adopted industry. Supported a comprehensive literature review, identifies challenges suggests possible solutions. findings lead direction future research, should include innovative solutions improving recycling behaviors. Adopting such as virtual reality on education platforms developing mobile applications theme could promote stronger awareness reduction among public.
